About Jefferson Davis

If you’ve found yourself wandering to my About page, I’m glad you’re here to learn a bit more about me.
Through the years, I’ve come to define myself as a devoted photographer with an insatiable passion for capturing life’s transient beauty. My photographs, displayed throughout this website, are testaments to several decades spent behind the lens. While I’ve never managed to fully sustain myself financially through photography alone, my pieces have decorated magazine spreads and enhanced stock photography collections far and wide. The subjects of my work are diverse, comprising landscapes that whisper tales of the earth, cityscapes that pulse with the heartbeat of civilization, and splashes of artistic photography that defy categorical norms. Unless specifically indicated, all images showcased here are developed from film—a medium I cherish for its authenticity and time-honored grace.
Beyond my photographic endeavors, my personal life has flourished in the realm of love. Last year, I was blessed to marry my best friend, Deana Davis, a woman whose incredible spirit echoes in every facet of my life. She has become the very essence of my existence — my yin to her yang. Our union is one built on faith, laughter, and love, though our journey has taken an unexpected path.
From the light-hearted banter of losing my vision, to the stark reality that descended upon us just this past January. A routine MRI, intended to explore the causes of my vertigo, revealed that I am suffering from optic atrophy—an affliction diminishing my sight at an alarming rate. A succession of medical consultations culminated with the ominous pronouncement by a neuro-ophthalmologist: my days of visual perception are numbered, perhaps as briefly as two years hence.
Throughout this storm, Deana has been the bedrock upon which my strength is founded. Her support and understanding have been unwavering; she handles the situation with dignity and boundless strength. I endeavor each day to reciprocate in kind, offering strength and wisdom in equal measure.
As this reality unfolds, we find ourselves seeking out the kindness and support of others. I am in the midst of creating a magazine and exploring other creative avenues before the darkness encroaches. To support our endeavors and stand with us in this chapter of our lives, I invite you to purchase my magazine, “Purblind Illumination“. Alternatively, sharing the articles I write or contributing through donations—accessible on the sidebar—would be profoundly appreciated.
So, what else is there to divulge about Jefferson Davis?
Fundamentally, I consider myself a good-hearted individual, with a steadfast belief in Jesus Christ. Although I am the culmination of Irish and Jewish ancestries, my identity is deeply rooted in the richness of the American South. It’s here in this nurturing cradle of culture where my story began and where it continues to unfold.
Your curiosity about my life and work is not lost on me, and I am more than willing to engage in meaningful conversations. Should you wish to connect or have any inquiries, my email is always open to you: admin@jeffersondavis.us.
Thank you for stopping by, and may we soon share in the communion of visual stories and heartfelt dialogues, as long as light permits.
