Unwanted

This wee poem is about two friends of mine…Eejits, they are! I will not tell you what it is about. Perhaps you can figure it out. Just know that it is not relevant to me. I guess you could call it an angst poem. :)

We weave away loneliness in unison,

As the tele cries of war and famine;

Unwittingly, we continue on

Totally unaware.

We tread streets oozing in lurid day dreams,

Surreptitious perils on a microscopic scale;

Counselled by a hoarding with a tale

Of sorrow and despair.

And we sit in a benighted peep show,

With veiled teeth and lips in motion;

Awaiting a carnal promenade,

When skin goes bare.

  1. Erm, you will have to tell me what it’s about – I am beyond figuring out things like this after far too much exercise that has not only left me with aching muscles but also a numb brain. ;-)

    I love, love, love, that shot of the trees – stunning, JD!

  2. Excercise aye? Treadmill or Stair climber? :) It is basically ’bout people accidentally having kids. People that are oblivious to all the media screaming to use protection, so they don’t get diseases and unwanted children. You know, there are so many couples that want children that can’t have them that it just really gripes me when other people have more kids than they can feed. It is more of a riddle than a poem, I guess. :)

  3. Treadmill – I’m strictly a treadmill girl :-)

    And yes, I understand your gripe – it’s a very valid one. An irony for us here is that our president in waiting was recently charged with rape – the case was dropped – but here’s the thing – as Chairman of the Moral Regeneration Movement, there he was having unprotected sex with a family friend’s daughter who happens to be HIV positive. Oh he said, he took a shower afterwards to prevent infection. Ha ha ha. Now there’s someone who shouldn’t be oblivious to the media screaming and who should know better. Needless to say the media had a field day with him – but it doesn’t seem like that will stop him from becoming the next president.
    Funny old world, eh.
