The first snow of the year gingerly drifted through atmosphere last night, spreading a three inch white powder upon the brittle grasslands. I love the first snow. It is so serene as it gently lands on heavy branches and blankets every rooftop with white lace. The only problem we have in my area is what comes after the snow.
After a day of beautiful snow, we are usually blessed with sleet, freezing rain, and then the wet stuff. I spent three or four hours yesterday helping my neighbour cut up three truck loads of wood, so he’d have wood for his wood stove during the frigid -9°C night.
When I finished my shift at work, I went to my Uncles. We stood around the campfire, talked about old times, sipped hot cocoa, and watched the frozen memories aimlessly float down to the frozen tundra. That was grand until this morning, when I awoke to a cough and soar throat. So, instead of enjoying the white fluffy stuff and taking a ton of pictures, I’ve been stuck inside. I snapped a few pictures last night, but I didn’t give it much effort as it was after midnight.
Anyhow, I’ll be back tomorrow with another picture and perhaps a story. I love snow!

I love that image – and you paint a stunning and evocative picture with your words – beautiful and cosy! Now suddenly I’m longing for cocoa!
Stay snug and warm!
Wait until it turns to slush and you won’t love it quite so much …
VAnilla, cocoa is a must! Another good hot drink is coffee and Kahlúa.
Kahlúa will make you warm and cosy regardless of how cold it is outside.
Brian, it was mush the very next afternoon. Snow doesn’t hang around here for long.
