Recently, I was titled as a fantasist, which latched on,
like a chigger, and began to eat at my very heart and soul. I got to thinking about what was said and the
reasons that caused the callous name-calling. Only one conclusion could be surmised out of the ramble of useless idioms. I am a fantasist!
I fantasise of a world, country, state, community,
neighbourhood, and places where people get along with one another, regardless
of colour or cultural differences. Perhaps I should be transported back to the fifties, when people had
genuine concern for one another, doors were left unlocked, and neighbours did
more than wave at each other.
I dream of a place or dimension where people are judged on
their character and intellect, not how much money they have or what kind of
vehicle he or she may own. I plea for a
future, where men don’t have to go to their tombs, not knowing why they were
fighting or what they were fighting against. I desire a world, where rivulets of blood don’t course across the earth, leaving eternal crevasses of adversity and torment in the fabric of humanity.
I aspire for a world, where women and men would perceive one
another on their merits, character, personality, and chemistry, not the materialistic
views that men and women have of each other today.
Humankind has reached the outskirts of the cosmos, yet we
fail to understand each others finite differences.
So, am I a fantasist? You bet your arse I am! I
hope, pray, and plea for a brighter futurity.
Sure, I can gripe and moan about the current state of affairs, but in essence, I’m as guilty as the evil tyrants that control the world. It is up to each individual to make his or her world a better place to live. I encourage each and every one of you to get involved. Join an organisation or political group that has similar views to your own. Let’s make a difference in this world before it’s to late.
Earth could once again be a grand Utopia, if we get off of our arses and do something in a positive manner.
I could go on for ages, but I’m sure the Jefferson Davis
version of the perfect Utopia would bore the pants off of you all.
The world is too broken to ever be made into a utopia. people cannot be trusted.
Fucking typos, and I posted that too early – it should have read:
People cannot be trusted to work in harmony with each other.
Dario you’re in a mood because of the Scobies. Sme people work perfectly well in harmony. But . . .and there always is . . .
I think being a fantasist is fine as long as you understand it for what it really is, a journey into fantasy, a realm in wich I dwell often but can rarely translate into reality. I don’t consider it an insult but a little vision of hope . . And, although I am the eternal optimist (I wouldn’t have had children if I didn’t have some faith in the future) and a campaigner for peace among men, it’s hard not to be disappointed by our selfishness and our ability to destroy each other and the planet. It won’t stop me dreaming and it won’t stop me lobbying!
And I think organised religion has a lot to answer for in the west and the east but that’s another story . . .

Sorry Jefferson, I have doubleupentrydisease today . . .being cruel to my enter key
Hey, nothing wrong with being a fantasist – I spend most of my time in Dario-land!
Dario, I “HOPE” that we can all work in harmony one day. Hopes and dreams is what keeps most of us sane. I see nothing wrong with dreaming or fantasising.
Baino, thank you for the lovely comment. I am very much the optimist, and I’m certainly not trying to be cynical. I always hope for the best. It is almost impossible to pull the wool over my eyes. I have bunk radar. I have one hell of an imagination, but whatever is published on this site in story form, will have a big label on it, stating whether it’s fiction or non-fiction.
Dario, rock on brother.
