The Traveller

I was off work today, so I went for a long
walk.  After treading over loose pine needles, desiccated and lifeless
leaves, rocks (Pebbles, gravel, river rocks, concrete chunks, and the like.),
pavement (You know, the black stuff that we drive on.) of every age and colour,
and concrete paving stones, I realised that I must walk.

You see, I’ve got lazy over the past two months, because of the Holidays, or at
least that’s my excuse.  While at a good pace, I began to get
inspired.  Fragments of poems started entering my nous, like shards of a
glass puzzle, each piece filling a void in the riddle.

I’m sure that people thought that I was demented, ambling along, whilst
scribbling on a notepad.  I walked everyday during the summer months, and
I was revolutionised everyday, whether it was a passer-by, or a flower.
So, whether it is frigid outside or not, I’ll be continuing my daily
walk.  I hope to edit one of the poems, if I can read my own handwriting,
and have it on the blog tonight.

  1. I’ve read that, for creative writing, its good to write first thing in the morning when you’re in a semi-concious state.

I’m looking forward to reading the poems you wrote earlier.I wasn’t going to make any New Year resolutions but might now, that’s ‘always carry a notebook and pen’

  2. Hi Cibez, thanks for the comment. Yes, it is always vital to carry a pen and pad, and a camera, if you can. :)

Hi Atyllah, I never had thought about it, but you are absolutely correct. I ponder that being alone with mother nature helps the meditation. And yes, walking is good for the body and soul. It keeps everything in tune. :)

  3. Thank you Susan. :)

I’m at peace with the world, when I walk. The bluebirds sing with more volume, colourful butterflies flutter through the air, and crickets chirp in unison. Ah, life is good. Oh, wait a minute, this is winter. Sorry, I drifted back to summer, when the sky was blue, and I was cool. :)
