No blank check for the President…

Sen. Arlen Specter (R) said that Bush
could theoretically face impeachment charges over
eavesdropping.  The Senate Judiciary Committee has promised
hearings on this travesty to Americans rights.  I have posted
several stories on this dilemma, but I think that it?€™s a worthy
case.  The hearings are supposed to start next month; in
fact, U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has stated that he will
testify on the administrations justification.  Specter said,
“We’re going to explore it in depth?€, he also added, “I don’t think
anybody doubts that the president is making a good faith effort, that
he sees a real problem as we all do, and he’s acting in a way that he
feels he must?€.

In contrast, Senator Dianne
Feinstein (D) said on CBS, ?€œBush’s constitutional powers allow him to
simply avoid the law when he can do it (authorize domestic spying) by
following the law?€.  The New York Times said Eavesdropping
is, “a shameful act?€.  I cannot imply that this would have
ever seen the light of day, without the leak.  However, leaks
in the government are never good, yet there are exceptions like this
one.  Republicans, Democrats, Conservatives, and Liberals are
crossing the isles to study the constitutional law, to grasp whether
it?€™s lawful or not.  I?€™m curious to see what the outcome
will be.  What?€™s your opinion?

Samuel Alito Part Deuce

Samuel Alito:  Part Deuce

Well,
I told everyone that if I could find some info on Alito, that I would
share it with you.  Indeed, I was reading one of about forty
Irish Blogs that I go to everyday.  A lady named Fiona de
Londras from Metal Meanderings had a post about Alito, from the
Washington Post.  I don?€™t know how I missed this article,
for I read that paper as much as I can.  Anyway, Senator
Edward Kennedy wrote it, and contrary to what I believed, he made five
very valid points why Samuel should not be on the Supreme
Court.  I actually don?€™t think he was playing partisan
politics.  He gave five of the most logical reasons for not
nominating Alito.  Go check out the article, and then call
your Senator please.  Let them know how you feel, regardless
of political parties?€?

New Year – New Hope

Well, we are a week into the New Year, at least according to the Gregorian calendar.  Will
2006 be a more benevolent year than 2005?  Somehow, I doubt
it.  They will probably be more deceit, fabrication of the
truth, slayings, and worst of all; we?€™ll still be in Iraq at the end
of the year.  Nah, it won?€™t be that bad, at least I hope
not.  Optimism is the key word here folks.  Life is
what you make it, so be happy, flamboyant, and most of all, be who you
are.  Don?€™t let anyone take that away from
you.  I?€™ve got a little inspirational story for
you.

     Everyone who
listens to my podcast and reads the blog knows a bit about
me,   Except for what I?€™m about to tell you.  You
know that I work full-time and go to college full-time.  Some
folks have asked me how I do it all.  Well, just wait to you
read the rest of this post.  I normally try to stay away from
the whole personal aspect of my life, because I believe it?€™s a little
boring.  However, what I?€™m about to tell you may help you
to become a wiser and harder working person.

     When
I was born in the heart of the south, I contracted a disease called
spinal meningitis, which if kills most people who contract
it.  The doctors told my family, as they would in the future,
that I would not make it through the night.  Needless to say,
I made it through the night, and I?€™m still here today ?€“
thirty-three years later.  However, because of this horrific
disease, I have more things wrong with me than I can put in one post,
and I?€™m not going to get that personal.  I lived-in the
hospital a lot while growing up, and I watched several friends die from
the same things I was facing, but thankfully because of my iron will to
strive, I conquered it all.  I have a thing called
Hypopituitarism, which causes anyone who has it, to grow at an
incredibly slow rate along with other problems.  When I was
ten, I looked like I was six.  Heck, you wouldn?€™t believe
all the trouble I had as a young lad trying to buy
beer.  LOL?€?  I was kicked out of so many bars for
having a legitimate license, that you wouldn?€™t believe it.

     Now,
I?€™m thirty-three, and most people tell me that I look like I?€™m in
my early twenties.  There was a huge price to pay for looking
so young however.  I?€™m prescribed enough medicine to kill a
cow, but I only take what?€™s necessary.  I mostly stick to
the herbal stuff when I can.  I?€™ve seen a lot in my time
and experience more pain (physically), than most men dare dream
of.  Every test, needle prick, x-ray, needle in my spine, and
ugly nurse was worth it though, because I?€™m here today to tell you
about it.  Do not ever lose hope.  Hope is all some
people have.

     Seemingly,
some have said that I am a miracle of modern medicine, but I believe
that we are what we make of ourselves.  For example, most
people in my condition sit at home and collect a check from the
government, but not this cat, I work for my money.  However,
I don?€™t condemn those that do draw a check, some people do need the
assistance.  Sheer determination is what got me through
life.  The last thing I want is to depend on the government,
besides my family brought me up to reach for the stars and never
believe anything is impossible.  Family is what it?€™s?€™ all
about, without it, life is hard and at times cruel.

     Over
the past few years my life has truly changed for the
better.  I have gone from working from my family, to working
two great jobs and owning my own home.  I have stupid doctors
that think I still live at home, which I?€™ve not done since I was
twenty.  LOL?€?  They can?€™t comprehend the fact
that I?€™m still alive, much less that I work two jobs and go to
college full-time.  They don?€™t understand the whole premise
of determination.   Some have called me a very deep person,
yet some call me deceitful, nefarious, and manipulative (mostly
women).  If you were to meet me on the street, you wouldn?€™t
notice anything different about me, except for the fact that I look
about twenty.

     Finally,
I just wanted to give you a little inspiration in life, because
although it may be hard at times, it?€™s always worth another
go.  If you fall down, then get your lazy butt back up and
jump back on that horse.  In addition, I don?€™t want you to
go away from reading this thinking poor Jefferson,
buhh-huhh.  (  I simply want you to enjoy life, as
I do, and be happy, because life is too short to be sad and depressed.

     In
conclusion, I appreciate everyone who listens to the podcast and
comments on the blog.  I?€™ve not gone in much detail about
myself in the past, simply because it didn?€™t seem
necessary.  I said in Episode 6 that I went to private
school, and yes, that is correct.  Also, I gave Jenny a hard
time for calling me ?€œsouthern?€.  That is a touchy subject
for me, simply because people in the south have been deemed idiots for
some time now, and that?€™s just not the case.  I?€™ll be
back with more political mantra tomorrow.  Have a wonderful
Sunday all?€?

Peace in the Middle East hangs in the balance..

As Prime Minister Ariel Sharons?€™ life
hangs on by a thread, several world leaders are worried about peace in
the Middle East.  President Bush was dependent upon Sharon to
bring peace to the Middle East and form a Palestinian
state.  Now Bush has no lead to follow in the peace
process.  Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said, “The
desire for a stable relationship between Israel and the Palestinians is
one that runs wide and deep in Israeli society?€.  However,
Phyllis Bennis of the Institute for Policy Studies said,
“Diplomatically things will now stall. But the United States will
revert to its position of accepting what happens on the ground without
challenging Israel and that means allowing Palestinians to be in a big
prison?€.  The world needs Sharon, whether you like it or
not.  He has done a lot for Israel and Palestine, by pulling
settlements out of Gaza.  I hope that he pulls through
everything o.k.  Personally, I don?€™t think there will ever
be peace in the Middle East.  What?€™s your say?

The ABA gave Alito its highest rating

The American Bar Association gave
Samuel Alito its top honors today, as he prepares for his nomination
hearings on Monday.  The ABA considered his qualifications,
integrity and judicial temperament to give him their highest
rating.  Now, it?€™s up to the Senate to decide whether, he
is up to the challenge.  If the liberals have a legitimate
reason to not nominate him, then they better have it in hand on
Monday.  I have researched a little on him, and can find no
reason that he should not be nominated.  The only reason that
I can come up with, is that he would throw the political aura out of
balance.  However, let me just say that they should be no
political party nonsense in the highest court in the
nation.  Kim Gandy, president of the National Organization
for Women said, “It’s always an uphill battle to defeat a Supreme Court
nominee, but this is a fight worth having?€.  I don?€™t know
what her agenda is, but I am always fair and balanced, unlike other
news organizations.  Anyone have an opinion on
Alito?  I?€™m always open to opinions?€?
